5 elements you need to know before seeking brand development

When creating your personal brand sometimes we get caught up in wanting to start creating the visuals without first really understanding what your brand is all about and understanding what you want to be known for. So let’s dive in and understand the 5 elements you need to know before seeking brand development.

1. Knowing your WHY? What makes you unique

This will be the most important part of your marketing message because it helps people make a choice between you and everyone else. What is the benefit that you offer that your competitors don’t. 

For me: I help female entrepreneurs stand out by designing your influential brand through brand identity and web design.

2. Create a Brand Positioning Statement

Your brand position statement helps figure out your branding goals. It will cover your industry /niche, target audience, value proposition.

Template: I help [who] with [what you do/ what their struggle is] so that they achieve [result].

For example my brand positioning statement:  I help female biz owners create and design influential brands that are ready to step into the spotlight and express who they truly are.

3. Establish Your Brand Story

Storytelling is trendy in branding for good reason. A brand story tells the motivation for starting your business, and why you get up and do what you do every day, why customers should care, and why they should trust you. If people resonate with your brand story, they’re 55% more likely to purchase from you.

4. Brand Identity

Often this step is done backwards before understanding your target audience and their pain points, the way you provide solutions, your brand story. It will consist of you logo, brand colours, fonts and tagline. Your brand should be cohesive, consistent, and identifiable.

5. Marketing Strategy for your brand

Now that you know your niche, have identified your target audience, solutions you provide. This will help create the foundation of your marketing strategy. Now it’s getting them to know – like – trust you through the marketing efforts you choose.
